5 little things that you can do to help the environment

We can all do our own thing to help the environment. As small as these things may seem, if everyone does the little things, it all adds up...

1/ Take reusable shopping bags when you go shopping to save using plastic bags that may go straight to landfill.

2/ Take a keep cup when you buy your daily coffee. Most coffee cups are not recyclable and end up in landfill.

3/ Reuse your glass jars. They are great for keeping lots of things in your pantry or even taking your lunch in.

4/ Plan your meals- this will help eliminate food waste.

5/ Start a compost bin or get some chickens- this is a great way to get something back from your food scraps.

New Course- Counselling Children

Learn to be more sensitive to the needs of children, and more capable of interacting in a positive way with children during counselling.

In order to counsel children effectively, a therapist needs to understand the types of problems that can affect children and how they might have evolved.

Like disorders of adulthood, childhood disorders can, and usually do, have more than one cause. Also, like adults, these causes may be of genetic or environmental origin. With children though, we must also consider developmental causes since childhood is a time when children are continually developing: intellectually, socially, emotionally and, of course, physically.

This course covers 9 lessons:
1/ Introduction to Types & Causes of Childhood Problems
2/ Assessment of Childhood Problems (including ethical/legal considerations)
3/ Counselling for Internalising Problems & Disorders I: Anxiety
4/ Counselling for Internalising Problems & Disorders II: Depression
5/ Counselling for Externalising Problems & Disorders III: Eating Disorders
6/ Counselling for Externalising Problems & Disorders IV: Conduct Disorders
7/ Counselling for Other Problems & Disorders
8/ Other Counselling Approaches
9/ Problem based learning

Life Coaching Careers- Would you like to be a life coach?

Firstly consider –
Am I a good listener?
Do I like working with people?
Am I a people person?
Do I have a passion to help other people change their lives?
If the answer is yes to these questions, then why not consider becoming a life coach?

Can I become a life coach?
If you have answered yes to the questions above, then yes you can. Life Coaches come from many diverse backgrounds. They may have worked as teachers, nurses, business people, in retail, HR or many different fields.

What do life coaches do?
Life coaches help people to find a better life. Life coaches do not look at the past in the way a counsellor might, but look at the here and now and the future. A person comes to a life coach as they want to change their life and the life coach is there to help them. This may include things such as work/life balance, losing weight, gaining promotion, changing careers, returning to work after illness or having a baby and much more.

How do you become a life coach?
The first step to becoming a life coach is usually to take a course, such as Life Coaching. Gaining experience of working with clients is also useful. During the Life Coaching course, you are encouraged to complete case studies and work with others to get an idea of how life coaches work. This will give you useful experience when you go on to become a life coach yourself.
