ACS Distance Education is a college with a difference. Our courses are relevant to real life and are ideal for people wanting to pursue their passions by learning for life or to develop amazing careers. Established in 1979, ACS Distance Education is a leading Australian Distance Education provider offering over 600 courses via online learning or via elearning (on USB). Our courses, course notes, and most recommended texts, are all developed by our own staff. Our staff are all professionals in their field and have studied, worked and created innovation in their chosen field, providing the best support and leadership to our students. Education Philosophy We believe that by providing a different education to main stream vocational colleges and universities, we are able to differentiate our graduates and give them real life advantages over graduates from more traditional institutions. These differences however must be (and are) pursued without compromising academic excellence in any way whatsoever. In principle we tend to favour experiential learning and problem based learning. We believe learning is more important than assessment. For us, assessment should be provided more to enhance the learning experience and less to rank students.

Read for An Hour The 23rd of April is World Book Night. In the UK, there is a lovely idea that from 7pm to 8pm, it is Reading Hour. During that hour, people are asked to commit to reading for just one hour. This could be – Reading a book, an article, a journal. Reading to someone else. Having a book club meeting or starting one if you don’t already Listening to audio books The Reading Agency estimates that one third of people in England don’t read for pleasure, but reading is so beneficial to all of us. They found that – People who read regularly felt less feels of depression and stress. 19% readers said reading made them feel less lonely. A fifth of people who read more than 30 minutes a week reporter greater life satisfaction.
